Hello friends! I hope that this summer is being so kind to you. My August was filled to the brim with ups (lovely time spent with friends and family) as well as a few downs (learning the meteorological term ‘heat dome’ against my will). I celebrated my 27th birthday this month, officially launching me into my late twenties. Aging is a beautiful privilege and yet! Recognizing the passing of time has made me feel insane once again :~) Existential angst aside, I’d love to show you what I’ve been up to lately!
More Embroidered Hats
I spent a chunk of August wrapping up this set of the embroidered caps for my friends over at Pennant Design Co. !

Super excited about all the different design variations I got to explore here. Always grateful to work with clients who are down to try new things!
A Sculpture Test
I’ve been wanting to explore the possibility of tufted sculptures for a while now, and after finally landing on a concept I’ve begun work on a small series of pieces. It’s still very early days, so stay tuned for more, but I spent some time this month developing and testing patterns and am having a blast!!!
I used some old muslin and a bunch of fabric and yarn scraps to stuff this guy (hence the random lumpiness lol). Love recycling old materials! He’s definitely rough around the edges, but I worked out a lot of kinks in the process of making him and have been enjoying his presence in the studio <3 Very much looking forward to starting the final series!
Painting Tomatoes
Been trying to find time to paint more often lately, and had so so so much fun on this little gouache piece >:)
5 Things I Loved This Month
1. Watching: Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life
I wasn’t super familiar with Geoff’s work before watching this, but I had seen it recommended several times so I gave it a shot, and I loved it! I found it super inspiring. I love seeing how other artists structure their lives and build their careers!
2. Shopping: New Kitchen Backsplash !
I finally finished installing my kitchen backsplash this month! This is the kind of DIY project that seems super intense but actually isn’t so bad at all. Obsessed with how it’s transformed the space!

3. Reading: Drowning in envy by Haley Nahman
I love Haley’s writing, and found this essay/advice column about envy from a couple weeks back especially profound. Here’s a snippy!
There are a few important things to remember when comparing yourself to other people. The first is that a lot of celebrated qualities are incompatible with each other. Ambition often comes with discontent; focus with rigidity; contentment with complacency. A couple that does everything together probably has fewer close friends. A social butterfly might have a messy house. These are crude examples, but it’s worth remembering that we all have to assess our strengths, try to build lives around those, and accept the consequences of those choices. The second thing to remember is a classic that bears repeating: Things are never as rosy as they seem. Every life is laden with its own unique struggles. A life without struggle is meaningless, and people without material problems suffer more convoluted emotional ones. The goal is not a clean life free of friction. (That is death.)
4. Drinking: Latte Hearts <3
I make a latte pretty much every morning these days, and while there’s still some insanely bad pours happening, sometimes I surprise myself... Here’s a heart from the other day I was particularly proud of!
5. Listening: Joni Mitchell
Been listening through her discography this month and she really is a genius… The frying pan IS too wide you’re so right Joni…
